Modular DFOS Hardware: Scalable and Flexible Solutions
Nothing is deployed without rigorous engineering assessment, applied equally to COTS components and WnW’s own in house designs. Full compliance with all relevant standards is assured — and where certification is required, it is obtained.
Optical fiber inside the cable has a dynamic strength of 100,000 psi or greater, this is stronger than stainless steel. The fibre can be wrapped around your finger without issue. When cabled the system is extremely robust – though nothing is ass robust to tolerate earth forces.
Proven Techniques and Best Practices in DFOS Design
Consequently, WnW is diligent in promoting design solutions which apply proven techniques, either sealing, metallurgy or other best practices. A cable is only as good as the tools terminated to it as they are the leak paths. All WnW downhole tooling, including the WHE, can be leak tested, applies redundant sealing, and can all be worked in the field, under standard field conditions.
Tools are pressure rated to up to 20,000 psi, though lower specification tools for 15k and 10k are also available buy selection pressure appropriate NACE compliant metallurgies. Many items are also available as hybrid for copper and optical requirements. Our wellhead exit, which will interface with all rated wellhead preps, also complies with API/ISO standard relating to wellhead construction and explosive environments.
Listed below, though not exhaustive, is a list of downhole products WnW supplies – note the WHE Exist is considered part of the subsurface installation as it is the pressure barrier at the wellhead:
- Low profile cable terminations for only fiber optic or hybrid.
- Design of carriers and mandrels for ported gauges/By-pass carriers
- In-line splices and y-splices for adding gauges along the cable length
- Wellhead exits – copper, optical or electro-optical – permitting multiple fibres and two copper lines to exit the wellhead in compliance with all relevant standards
- Optical and electronic surface interrogation units such a gauge units, DAS, DTS and DSS systems – rack and rugged.
Furthermore, a defining strength of WnW is the capability to design and manufacture exclusive products to address specific, uncommon requirements — ensuring the client receives exactly what is needed, without compromise.
This may be as straightforward as an unconventional adapter, or as sophisticated as a fully engineered, cost-effective solution to a long-standing problem the client has previously had to tolerate.
